Office 2000/XP/2003 is provided as a Windows Installer package and all Windows Installer packages can be easily deployed with RemoteExec. In order to do this you need to:
For Office XP/2003 deploy Windows Installer 2 or more on all Windows 2000/NT 4 computers (if not already deployed). For Office 2000 deploy Windows Installer on all Windows NT 4 computers.
Create the network image for MS Office on a share with the following command line: Install /a (to execute on the MS Office CD-ROM)
Select msi installation as action (with the action tab menu)
Enter the path to the msi
file located in the network image:
\\Server\Share\proplus.msi
for Office XP with FrontPage
\\Server\Share\install.msi
for Office 2000.
\\Server\Share\pro11.msi for Office
2003 professional
Choose Install as operation
(Optional) If you want to custom the installation
you can check Use transform and
enter the path to a transform file (.mst) created with the Office 2000/XP/2003
customization wizard.
If you are interested in installing all features you can specify ADDLOCAL=ALL as arguments instead of
using a transform file.
Go to the computers tab and select the computers on which you want to install MS Office.
Click Execute to launch the deployment
Enter your password (if asked). The deployment will then start and you will be able to follow the progression in the Progress Window.
